Navigating the American Dream

I had always dreamt of coming to America for my undergraduation and embarking on the journey of applying to colleges in the United States as an Indian student from a boarding school was a challenging yet a transformative experience. My time at Mayo College, a prestigious boarding school in India, was characterized by a rigorous schedule, demanding extracurricular and academic commitments, and the struggle to strike a balance between both.

One of the defining aspects of my high school life was my involvement in equestrian activities. While equestrian might not be the most conventional extracurricular pursuit, it played a major role in shaping my character and taught me valuable lessons about discipline, resilience, and teamwork. Juggling this passion alongside participating in business competitions, attending summer camps, engaging in internships was no small feat. The constant challenge of managing time and energy for these diverse interests of mine was a test of my commitment to development.

The college application process itself proved to be a daunting task. Amidst the demanding academic curriculum and extracurricular commitments, finding time to research colleges, preparing for standardized tests, and writing personal statements required planning.

Choosing the right college was an important decision, and my hunt for business education led me to the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Known for its reputation as one of the best business schools globally, Kelley offered a renowned faculty, and a vibrant campus community. The decision was not only based on academic considerations but also on my interest in continuing my passion for equestrian which was possible here.

Transitioning from the structured environment of a boarding school in India to the bustling campus of Indiana University was a significant adjustment. The first few months were full of new experiences, from a different education system to building friendships with people from around the world. The academic rigor at Kelley School of Business has been both challenging and enriching, pushing me to explore and develop critical thinking skills.

To conclude, the decision to pursue higher education in the United States has proven to be one of the best choices I've made. Even though it has only been a few months, the exposure to different cultures, and the academic rigor at Indiana University have collectively shaped my outlook on education and personal growth. As I navigate through this journey, I am grateful for the experiences that have brought me to this point, and I look forward to the continued learning and growth that await for me in the business world.
